A POX on our house!!!

Yep, that's right- Chicken Pox that is.

Regan has it.

I have no idea how or where she contracted it, being that she's home with me, not in a daycare or childcare setting, and that we're pretty much home-bodies (unless we're visiting family- which we've done several times just lately).

But, have it she does!  She's doing pretty well so far- no fever yet, just continuing to slowly show more of the blistery little bumps here and there.  She's, for the most part, not even crabby- but I (as the mommy) can tell that she's just not quite her usual self.

I'm actually rather happy (gasp! I know- bad mommy!) that she's got it- we're not big into the whole vaccination thing in general, and I've heard (both from friends and the doctor) and read that the shot isn't nearly as good- and not as permanent- as getting the "wild" version.  Don't get me wrong- I really feel for her and the possible suffering she may yet be going through before it's all said and done- but it's (for the most part) a harmless childhood disease that only makes its "victims" suffer more the older they are when they get it.

We've been told that babies generally get the most mild cases, and that to get it as a teenager or adult can not only cause a lot more suffering, but also brings with it the risk of more complications- like pneumonia.

So, we're pox-ed.

The next 7-10 days look like they'll be spent here at home.
(While we aren't worried about Chicken Pox ourselves, we respect that it is very contagious and that there are many families who would rather their children not get it.)

Apparently those who are pox-ed are contagious until the spots are all gone- and, at least until a child is covered with the things, the Pox seem to be quite elusive.  I haven't yet been able to get a good picture of my chubby little baby's polka-dotted legs.

Sigh....

Oh well- looks like a lot more cuddle time is in our very near future.

Sighs of Relief, And- Bleck!!!

We had our second early ultrasound today- first thing this morning to be exact.

You see, the new doctor's office
(we've made the switch from the big hospital to a smaller hospital and nearby/attached Dr.s office)
was supposed to do it yesterday afternoon- you know, when we arranged our schedules especially to get off work early and get it done.

But there was a hitch in the plan.

Although they told me we had our ultrasound appointment scheduled, they did not, in fact, apparently remember to schedule it.

But, I digress.

ANYWAY, we did the ultrasound this morning, and Baby looks great! :)

It was such a relief to see him/her kicking and wiggling around, to see the heart still beating just as strongly as it's supposed to, and especially to have him/her measure in at a week further in growth than expected (big relief to me especially, since I haven't been able to eat the way I'd like to- j u s t s o n a u s e a t e d...)!

So, even though I "tossed my cookies" for the first (and hopefully last) time this pregnancy today, life is looking good.

We got a whole string of pictures printed for us
(posting of which will follow soon, hopefully, if I can get that all figured out),
and Pete, being the proud papa, took one to work to show off to the guys. :)

Still Here. (Technically.)

Just an update to let those of you wondering know that, yes, I'm still alive.
I'm still here, just feeling under the weather these days.
Hopefully I'll be back soon with miscellaneous pictures and updates on life.
Until then, here's to hoping you'll see lots more spring days, like we are today-
sunny and 65.
Finally.

Bleck.

I just had to change the music for today.

We are just not feeling that upbeat 'round here.

Pete and I got sick the day after Christmas, it lasted three full days, and now we're a bit
under the weather again.

Well, I'm a "bit" under, he's waaay under.

Poor guy.

Here's to hoping tomorrow starts off brighter, healthier, and with the "crud" gone-
this time for good.
