Gettin' Dirty

"In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt."
~ Margaret Atwood

This excellent quote (shared by the lovely Amanda) pretty much sums it up for me these days!

We (well, ok, mostly just me- but Regan helped a little too, as seen above!) were busy working on a fun new outdoor project this weekend!  I'm excited to share it with you- so look for that post coming soon.  :)

In  the meantime, here are a few other shots I thought I'd share from our weekend.

Hello, World!

Oh, my goodness!

After two weeks of being sick (first Reg, then myself), I am finally, FINALLY, starting to feel a little like my normal self again!

Sigh...  :)

Anyway, while I work towards getting our little family back into a nice rhythm and routine around here, I wanted to pop in and share an article that I am really loving today.

"Why 'Living Simply' Isn't Simple At All" is featured today on the Frugal Granola website (one of my favorites).

So, enjoy!

P.S. WHERE did spring go?!  We're expecting a couple of inches of snow here by the middle of the week.  I'm a bit put out with that ground hog.
P.P.S.  When did so many people decide this little, silly, blog was something to be interested in?!  My goodness!  Welcome, though, if you've decided to spend your time here.  :)

Until another day- on which I hope to have caught up a bit with all we've been missing here for the last two weeks- have a happy week!

The SPRING Edition...

I've been absent from here for quite awhile, but I'm working hard out here in "real life"- hopefully updates on all that's been going on to come soon!  :)

In the meantime, you should definitely check out the

Enjoy.

Spring Cleaning Has Begun!

Hi all!

It's been awhile- again.

We're finally beginning to be "on the mend" in our house. Poor Regan has been one sick little baby for the last week. Double Pink Eye, upper respiratory infection, and just a general feeling of yuckiness (along with those darn teeth, that just keep aggravating her but won't pop through!).

Poor pumpkin!

Anyway, we're (supposedly!) going to start seeing warmer temps. around here, so I'm starting the Spring Cleaning frenzy!

First off, I'd like to get rid of the following daycare center quality items- they'd be great for another daycare, preschool, or even a homeschooling family. I'm not going to need them, since my daycare numbers are dwindling.

I'm happy to sell these items for 50% (or slightly more) off of their listed prices, since I've only used a few of the pieces a few times, and the others are in excellent shape, OR I'd be more than happy to trade you for a nicer couch/ loveseat set for our home.

Just let me know if you're interested! :D

(I have a set of six or eight-maybe a few more?- in blue.)

(This table adjusts in height to fit toddlers up to school-agers.)

(I have an earlier version of this set- the sink is red, the back panel of the shelf/cupboard is red, and there are no printed pictures on the front of the fridge or other pieces.)

(This sensory table has a faucet-type drain underneath it to drain any liquids out, and the tub is removable for easy cleaning.)

March Change

It's been forever (sigh...) since I posted, so I thought I'd pop in quick to say "hi" and post our One Small Change for March.

By the way- March?! Really?! Already!?!? Hopefully we'll start to see more of this very soon...

(I'm really getting sick of snow- it's piled e v e r y w h e r e !)

Last month the goal was simple- try to keep the lights off in the house, except for the room we were currently in.

It went fairly well, too. I forgot off and on to switch a light off here and there, but found myself becoming more aware of it, and checking regularly to make sure lights were off around the house.

I'm a person who loves- NEEDS- lots of natural light, and unfortunately I'm "blessed" ;) to live in a house that gets very little. I used to "fix" this by keeping lots of lights on all the time- especially those gray winter days- but I'm doing better at it, one day at a time.

For March, we're going for another simple change.

We're going to be trying to go completely "paperless" in the kitchen/dining rooms.

This shouldn't be too hard on us (well, on me- poor hubby sure is attached to his paper napkins and paper towels) since we already have lots of cleaning rags and towels. My one trouble spot had been trying to find something to replace paper towels with- for those little messes and spills that you don't want to use an entire kitchen towel to clean up. Then I remembered the HUGE PILE of these Sham-Wow type cloths stashed under our kitchen sink. Hubby bought them (with me in mind- awwww) a long time back at a tool auction, and I just couldn't figure out what to do with them until now. Cut up into eighths (yep, they're BIG) they work great as reusable paper-towelish cloths!

Yay for me, finding a way to use what we already have. ;)

That's one thing I'm really enjoying about this challenge in general- so far it seems like the changes that are better for the environment are also better for our budget. And, with us working on some big changes in our life right now (hopefully I can post about them some time soon...), it feels really good to know that I can make changes that are better for our health, the environment, and benefit our budget.

And as for those diapers... sigh... I'm still trying to find time here and there to work on them.

I'm really bummed that I haven't been able to just sit at the sewing machine for a few hours to really make some progress, but with a young baby and a daycare at home I'm just not finding the time. I'm trying not to feel too bad about it, I'm only one person after all and there are only so many hours in a day, but I'll be really really happy if the pace of our life somehow can change enough to allow me a few hours for sewing here and there.

And, last but not least, my baby is on her last week of being a four month old!

And, she's learned to roll from her tummy to her back and is now scooting on her tummy!

Oh, my baby is already growing up too fast.

Still Here. (Technically.)

Just an update to let those of you wondering know that, yes, I'm still alive.
I'm still here, just feeling under the weather these days.
Hopefully I'll be back soon with miscellaneous pictures and updates on life.
Until then, here's to hoping you'll see lots more spring days, like we are today-
sunny and 65.
Finally.
